CAN AI REPLACE THE PROGRAMMER'S JOB?

 




Artificial intelligence simply means replicating human intelligence and capacity by machines like computer systems

 

Some examples of Artificial Intelligence(AI) includes: Maps and Navigation, Facial Detection and Recognition, Text Editors or Autocorrect, Search and Recommendation Algorithms, Chatbots(e.g ChatGpt), Digital Assistants, Social Media and E-Payments

 

It may sound like a far-fetched idea but there are many people who believe that artificial intelligence might replace programmers in the not-so-distant future. Let's talk about this possibility and see the debate if and when it would be possible.

 

Depending on who you ask, we're either a few years away or a few decades away from an AI revolution. Artificial Intelligence, or AI is being integrated into more and more industries all across the world. Therefore, many people envisage that in the next ten(10) to fifteen(15) years time Artificial Intelligence would have taken over every single programming job on Earth and programmers will have become obsolete in society because of this development.

 

However, until now, the AI revolution has not happened yet. Some say that in Ten(10) to Fifteen(15) years time, AI will be good enough for people to use without programming but that does not mean computers can do all of our jobs or tasks on their own.

 

Firstly, there are more than 50 types of programming languages used in the market right now and there are no signs of a single one being replaced by artificial intelligence anytime soon. Secondly, artificial intelligence can't take over every type of job on Earth and there is no such thing as running the world with a computer. Moreover, many companies have invested heavily in the development of artificial intelligence technologies because they know that they would be useless if they were not to develop further in the future.

 

However, just like computers are being integrated into more and more industries as we speak, so will artificial intelligence become more and more common in the coming years. There is no doubt that it will happen but there are many people who disagree with this statement.

 

We can't predict the future. As soon as AI is good enough for some jobs, it may be too advanced for others. And machines may not be able to do all jobs perfectly because of a lack of training or an ethical decision by humans to stop doing a certain thing altogether in which case humans would have to transfer their knowledge to these machines in order for them to perform the job or else see their roles being replaced by robots in future.


Ultimately, AI would gradually permeate every industry, its reception would, of course, differ in region by region, industry by industry, and person to person.


When it finally gets fully accepted globally, it would be interesting to know that productivity would be increased, performance would be enhanced and expectedly targets would be cheaply met by users of this technology.
